每个人的出生都是一个奇迹，只不过我们只是这个奇迹的结果，整个奇迹的发生过程基本没有我们什么事；就连我们参与其中的长大成人的过程，也多是被整个潮流及貌似重大决定背后的众多的偶然所推动着的，可以说我们只是自己成长过程中的旁观者。
万斯（J.D.Vance）也是这样一个旁观者，只不过他的成长历程真的是一个奇迹。能从快速没落和濒于崩塌的铁锈带走出来并有可能成为美国历史上最年轻的副总统，与懂王摇头间就躲过了子弹那般都是奇迹。现在的世界是最需要奇迹的时候，美国一下子来了两个。
为什么说是奇迹呢？我只说一个书中的例子，提起“兄弟姐妹”你会想到什么，我之前所想到的独生子女的问题。但读完万斯《乡下人的悲歌》，我才知道“兄弟姐妹”还会存在另一层困扰。万斯的母亲从世俗的观点来看绝对是真正垮掉的一代，婚姻的随意及私生活的混乱让万斯无所适从，试想一下万斯刚刚才和一个后爹熟悉，结果马上他老妈又给他换了个新爹。老妈的这些前夫的子女到底是不是他的兄弟姐弟？关键的一点是前夫们的数量以及前夫的前妻们的数量还在不断递增着...... 你如果身在其中的话，你能坚持多久？更不用说万斯身边充斥着吸毒、暴力、牢狱以及死亡的陷阱，走进深渊总有千万条道路，但走出来却千难万难，似乎没有可能。
万斯的母亲贝弗她们是生活在整个经济下行中的一代人，她们没有没有长远打算，没有任何责任感，也可以说是真正为自己活且活在了当下，他们从不会委屈自己，恣意妄为且快意恩仇，所以他们活在天堂又活在地狱，但他们的子女却是真正地活在了地狱里，最终形成了一个封闭的恶性反馈循环。越是不利的条件下人们越是用最坏的方式来应对，而通往地狱的路也正是由一个个好的出发点铺就的。
我是在上周的新闻里知道的万斯其人，然后就开始读起了他的书，基本都是在地铁上读的，占用了我用来读经济学人考研英语的时间 :) 这本书让从农村里走出来的我很有共鸣，我相信任何人都能从书中看出自己成长的影子。我读的非常投入，以致两次错过了换乘。记得有一次在12号线上，我抬头看到天潼路三个字，感觉非常熟悉，但又有点迷惑怎么做了几站了才到天潼路，天潼路不应该是起点的吗，然后我才意识到我还在12号线，正是要在这一站换乘10号线的，此时地铁就徐徐关上了门。
书是好书，人也是好人，但懂王与万斯的组合对未来的世界以及未来的中美倒底意味着什么，没有人能猜得出来，那就借用万斯话来勉励下彼此：全力以赴并不是一个简单的口号，而是一种生活方式。
